The upcoming Yellowstone prequel series, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, has been given a new name.
Previously titled 1932, the series will now be called 1923 and it’s set to focus on the Dutton family’s next two generations following on from the events of Yellowstone prequel 1883 (via Variety).
The new series will see the family struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft, and will play against the backdrop of Montana’s great depression, as well as explore the impact of the end of World War I in 1918.

The title change comes a month after it was confirmed that Star Wars icon Harrison Ford and Oscar winner Helen Mirren were set to star in the series, with Paramount+ confirming at the same time that the series would take place in the “early 20th century”.
Although the network didn’t share any character details, Paramount+ said in a statement: “The next story will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”
The series is set to debut in December 2022 and is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions.

The first Yellowstone prequel, 1883, debuted in December 2021 and set a new record when it became Paramount+’s most-watched series globally. Earlier this year, a new Yellowstone spin-off series titled 6666 was also confirmed, which will focus on the Four Sixes ranch in present-day West Texas

Meanwhile, the original Yellowstone series wrapped its fourth season in January, with a fifth season already confirmed to premiere in November 2022.
Yellowstone and its spin-offs will be available to watch on Paramount+ in the UK when the new streaming service launches on Wednesday (June 22).
