General Hospital recap for Wednesday, September 3 reveal Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was rushed to surgery in critical condition.
Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) along with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) dove in on a high stakes investigation to find his attacker, and more!
The News Of Drew’s Shooting Spreads
The news of Drew’s shooting started to circulate in Port Charles during the September 3 episode of General Hospital.
After Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) discovered her nephew, Anna and Dante began their investigation, while Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) seized an opportunity that was almost given to her. At the same time, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) aimed for an honest discussion about her relationship with Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna).
A Brief Replay Of Drew’s Shooting Aired
First, a short replay of Drew’s shooting was shown, while Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Kai Taylor hid in a bedroom; Drew retrieved something from his safe.
Holding a drink, the congressman approached the fireplace, gazing lovingly at a framed picture of himself and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and then at her engagement ring.
He set the ring beside the photo and softly promised that everything would be fine; just as Drew finished his drink, a gunshot echoed.
Trina and Kai flinched at the sound from their hiding spot in the bedroom-in the living room, Drew fell to the ground, having been shot in the back! A dark figure approached Drew and fired again at close range before walking away.
Trina And Kai Emerge From Drew’s Bedroom And Kai Convinces Trina To Leave With Him
Kai prevented Trina from going out of the bedroom to check, but then he exited the room himself, holding a softball bat, after hearing someone leave the house.
Not wanting to be alone in the room, Trina followed him, and they found an unconscious Drew lying on the living room floor. Since Drew still had a pulse, Trina wanted to stop the bleeding and call the police, but Kai cautioned her that they should leave him alone.
They could be implicated because they had broken into his house in the first place. Seeing headlights from the front window, Kai instructed Trina to exit through the back door; before leaving the house himself, Kai slightly opened the front door.
Lucas Looked For Willow At The Hospital, Who’d Gone MIA, As Anna Talked With Chase
Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) was searching for the missing Willow at the hospital, and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) mentioned that her friend had left her shift.
In the hallway, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) told Anna his theory that Drew had a motive to kill Judge Eva Heran (Tessa Auberjonois) to keep Willow dependent on him.
Anna didn’t agree, suggesting that Chase’s judgment could be influenced by his history with Willow, but the detective maintained that Drew could commit murder.
Chase did finally agree with Anna that she was more objective where Willow was concerned than he was. Anna shot down everything Chase said as to Drew’s motives with her incredible detective logic.
Willow Suddenly Returned, Soaking Wet And Kind Of Out Of It
Then, suddenly, drenched and soaked to the bone, Willow entered the GH emergency room, seeming kind of out of it.
Taken aback by her friend’s condition, Elizabeth inquired about her whereabouts, but Willow merely gazed at her in silence. Later on, Liz confided in Lucas that Willow had returned; she had stepped out for a walk to clear her head after hearing some distressing news and ended up in the rainstorm.
Lucas felt that Liz was being overly forgiving towards Willow and was concerned that she might end up being pulled down with Nurse Tait. Elizabeth told him she’d been in trouble herself and gotten help, and she was just paying it forward.
Tracy Discovers Drew In Distress, Called 911 And Was Forced To Answer Questions
As Tracy approached Drew’s front door, it opened, and she was horrified to see her nephew bleeding on the living room floor. “Don’t you dare die on me,” she said, checking for a pulse and calling 911.
Later, as paramedics carried Drew out, Tracy insisted on going in the ambulance with him-but before she could leave, Anna and Dante arrived to look into the crime scene.
Tracy became emotional, telling Anna that she had come to talk to Drew about allowing Emily “Scout” Cain (Cosette Abinante) to see the family.
She explained the restraining order against Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) and Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzn) meant Scout couldn’t visit Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) at the Quartermaine house either.
Tracy Worried How She’d Tell Monica If Drew Were To Die
As Tracy contemplated how she would tell Monica if Drew passed away, Dante took Anna aside to inform her that he had discovered mud and water near the back door.
Both Anna and Dante believed the crime scene did not appear to show signs of forced entry. In fact, Dante mentioned that the only item that seemed out of place was the softball bat lying on the floor.
After Tracy was excused, recalling that she had stepped over the bat earlier, Anna and Dante started compiling a lengthy list of suspects who might want Drew Cain dead. Dante remarked that it would be a long list – “Who’s at the top?” she questioned.
Kai And Trina Discuss Leaving Drew At The Scene And Their Culpability
Back at her apartment with Kai, Trina started to worry about how leaving Drew made them seem guilty-“We already are guilty,” he stated. “Of trespassing and burglary… and how would we justify hiding in Drew’s bedroom?”; while he had a believable reason for being there as Drew’s assistant, Kai noted that Trina did not.
Later, as Kai looked at his phone for any updates about Drew, Trina worried that during the investigation, the police might take the evidence Drew had against her mother.
Michael Arrived To Find Wiley Awake With Brook Lynn Comforting Him
Brook Lynn Quartermaine Chase (Amanda Setton) was in the Quartermaine kitchen with Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver), who had just woken from a bad dream, when Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) walked in.
He was soaked from the storm outside and dressed entirely in black, after having had a talk with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and also having talked to his mother.
He apologized for not being there when Wiley woke up, promising his son that he would always be there for him and his sister. “But that’s what Mommy said. Now we never see her,” the little boy expressed sadly.
Michael And Brook Lynn Try To Comfort Wiley
After Brook Lynn and he reminded Wiley of the numerous family members who cared for him, Michael tucked his son back into bed.
Upon his return to the kitchen, Brook Lynn pondered if he was making the right choice by preventing Willow from seeing the children. Michael stood by his conviction that Willow was too unpredictable to be around the kids, leaving Brook Lynn astonished with the revelation that she was returning to Drew.
Willow was simply too unstable to be around their children. Michael reiterated he would do anything to keep Willow away from Wiley and Amelia Corinthos (Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko).
Willow And Portia Learn Of Drew’s Shooting
After changing into dry scrubs following her walk in the rain, Willow exited the elevator and bumped into Chase; hearing the news that Drew had been shot, she collapsed in his arms.
Later, in the break room, Willow found herself wondering if Drew would survive the surgery. Meanwhile, as he and Liz prepared Drew for the operation, Lucas hoped he could extract the bullets without harming the spinal cord.
In Isaiah Gannon’s (Sawandi Wilson) room at the Metro Court, he and Portia were sharing a kiss when she received a call about a VIP arriving at the hospital and left. Upon arriving at G.H., Portia was shocked to discover from Liz that the patient was Drew, who was in critical condition after sustaining two gunshot wounds to the back.
Lucas Brings Portia Up To Speed On Drew’s Condition, She Scrubs In To Assist
As Lucas made his way to the operating room, he reassured a concerned Willow that Drew was stable enough for transport to surgery, promising to do everything he could to assist him.
While updating Portia, who had just arrived, Lucas explained that the position of the bullets put Drew at risk of paralysis. He emphasized that the sooner he could perform the operation, the better the chances of preserving Drew’s mobility.
This information caught Portia’s attention, and she offered to scrub in for the surgery. This would allow Lucas to proceed without waiting for the doctor he had been expecting to help.
Carly Interrupts Collette’s Interruption Of Brennan In His Office
Brennan was enjoying a drink in his office when Colette Moreau (Mercedes Renard Lopez) walked in for an update. Worried that it had been 48 hours without any word from Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) or Vaughn (Bryce Durfee), she criticized Jack.
She accused him of being stubborn and not admitting that the Five Poppies mission had failed and that the agents were clearly missing. Pushing back, Jack questioned whether she wanted him to fail, arguing that Vaughn missing a check-in wasn’t a significant issue.
Colette urged Brennan to allow her to head to Croatia to fix the problems caused by Josslyn and Vaughn, but Jack denied her just as a frantic Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) burst in.
Jack Reassured Carly
Concerned that she had made a significant error with Drew, Carly shared the details of her confrontation with her ex.
As she described her year-long relationship with Drew and how he turned out to be different from her expectations, Jack asked if Carly feared she might be mistaken about him. With her doubts about her previous relationship surfacing, Carly exclaimed, “I want to trust you, and I want to have faith in us, but I can’t afford to be wrong again.”
Taking her hands in his, Jack assured her that he would never hurt her on purpose. He emphasized that he also desired their relationship to succeed, and she expressed her gratitude for his willingness to listen and be honest with her.
Jack Gets A Call From Anna About Drew, And Gives Carly An Alibi
“It means so much to me, more than you realize,” she murmured, oblivious to the fact that he was concealing a significant truth about her own Josslyn being his latest recruit. Just then, Jack got a call from Anna concerning Drew and communicated the details of the shooting to Carly.
“There were no witnesses. It seems Drew was by himself at home,” Brennan reported to Carly, not knowing she had been overheard by Elizabeth threatening Drew. “Thank goodness you were here with me the entire time,” he continued, implying that he would give Carly an alibi.
Jason Prepared To Leave For The USA, As Josslyn And Vaughn Were In Danger
In the meantime, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was waiting to get on a plane to Port Charles at the Charles DeGaulle airport in Paris. He called Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) to let him know there was a delay.
He couldn’t help but flash back to his conversations with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) remembering how hurt she was by his devotion to Carly and always running to help her.
Britt credited that as one reason she couldn’t return to Port Charles with him, which he’d offered, in rescue from the situation she is in. Meanwhile, at the Five Poppies resort, Josslyn was upset over Britt walking out on her and Vaughn (Bryce Durfee) who were still captive.
Pascal And A Goon Enter The Room Vaughn And Joss Are Captive In
As Pascal (Marc Forget) entered the room, he offered them water in return for the names of others who were aware of the operation.
Vaughn insisted that Agent Jacks was unaware, as she was merely part of his cover story. Meanwhile, Britt was lurking in the hallway and heard Joss scream just as one of Pascal’s goons was about to cut her throat.
To intervene, Vaughn admitted that they were reporting to Brennan, but he was unsure who else was involved in the case. After signaling to release Josslyn, Pascal cautioned them that if the combination to the black box failed, he would “get rid” of them.
Britt Sneaks In After Pascal And The Goon Leave
Stepping into the hallway, Pascal said that Brennan’s secrecy could be advantageous, as it would simplify erasing their operation’s traces at the Five Poppies once they dealt with Joss and Vaughn.
Once they were alone again, a frustrated Joss and Vaughn argued, with her scolding him for allowing Pascal to believe they could use her to get to him. Vaughn softened and whispered, “They’re not wrong;” for a moment, they exchanged a heated glance.
Vaughn then pointed out that he hadn’t revealed anything to Pascal that he didn’t already know from their WSB files — such as the black box, indicating there’s a mole at the bureau. Suddenly, they heard the electronic lock click open, and Britt walked into the room!
Britt Briefly Helped Josslyn And Vaughn
Revealing that they were not honeymooners but WSB agents, Joss pleaded with Britt to assist them in escaping and leaving together. Britt replied that there was little she could do and that they needed to fend for themselves; she pressed something into Josslyn’s hand before departing.
When Pascal saw her closing the door, Britt switched to ‘Britch’ mode to hide her link to Joss and asked if ‘he’ was aware that Pascal had kidnapped honeymooners.
She accused her handler of being poor at taking initiative and walked away. Back in the room, Joss showed Vaughn the small manicure scissors Britt had given her and used them to cut their bindings.
Joss And Vaughn Ambush Pascal’s Goon As Pascal Catches Britt Calling Jason
When the guard came back, Joss and Vaughn, now liberated, launched an ambush on him. Retreating to her suite, Britt pulled out the burner phone that Jason had given her and attempted to call for assistance, but the signal was too weak. Just as he was about to board a flight back to Port Charles, Jason got Britt’s call, but the connection was distorted, making it impossible for him to understand her words.
Meanwhile, as Britt was approached from behind, Pascal snatched the phone from her grasp. “I don’t care what he thinks,” Pascal hissed; “This time, you’ve crossed the line.”
