Emmerdale star joins Coronation Street 26 years after quitting TV and fans are floored

Coronation Street fans have been left gobsmacked after realising where they have seen the actress who plays the Michaelis kids’ social worker before.

On the soap recently, Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) have been looking after Mick (Joe Layton) and Lou Michaelis’ (Farrel Hegarty) children following their shock arrests.

Last week though, the children, were dealt a devastating blow during a visit from a social worker and psychologist.

Despite things going off to a good start, the experts were left worried when Shanice arrived from the garden with a bloody gash on her leg and told them that her older sister Joanie did it.

Tim and Sally attempted to downplay Joanie’s behaviour, but the social worker and psychologist were not convinced. Later, the social worker returned and revealed they would be separating the girls.

However, despite all the drama going down on screen, Coronation Street fans couldn’t help but recognise the actress who plays the social worker.

Actress Glenda made her Emmerdale debut in 1988 as Rachel and remained on the soap until the character was killed off in 1999.

After leaving Emmerdale, Glenda stepped back from acting but has since made her comeback in last week’s episode of Coronation Street.

At the time of her Emmerdale exit, Glenda said: “I’ve been at Emmerdale for 11 years so it is a big change, but there comes a time when you have to go. I have other strings to my bow, and now seems like the right time to put them to the test.”
