Emmerdale’s Jacob Gallagher gets tough warning in baby plot tonight

Emmerdale‘s Jacob Gallagher is called out for neglecting his work responsibilities in tonight’s episode – but will he listen to warnings from Liam Cavanagh?

Jacob is about to embark on an exciting new direction in his life, as he’s looking forward to welcoming a child with his girlfriend Sarah Sugden next year.

The trainee doctor has lots on his plate, though, and the chickens come home to roost in Thursday’s episode as two important commitments collide.

Jacob is grateful when Liam offers him the opportunity to come along and shadow him at the local GP surgery, where patients will be attending a dementia clinic.

Once that’s all arranged, Sarah asks Jacob to spend the afternoon with her as she wants to show him a cot that she’s planning to buy for the baby.

Rather than ‘fess up that he already has plans, Jacob agrees to go with her and doesn’t even bother to update Liam about his change in intentions…

After Jacob’s no-show, Liam decides that a friendly but firm warning is in order to remind him that his career needs to be a priority.

Jacob has already sacrificed a lot to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor, but could this all be for nothing if he starts to let it slide?

“I know you’ve got a lot going on, but you need to prioritise your career,” Liam explains to Jacob when they catch up later at the café.

“You can’t let it suffer. You’ve got to keep sight of what’s important – keep an eye on the bigger picture. That’s all I’m saying – just a bit of advice, that’s all.”

Can Jacob, Liam and Sarah work things out? Fans can see how the drama unfolds in full when the episode airs at 7.30pm tonight, or via streaming now on ITVX and YouTube.

Jacob and Sarah recently made a surrogacy agreement with Sarah’s grandmother Charity Dingle, who’d offered to carry a baby for them.

Charity has since discovered that she’s pregnant, but she’s worried that the father could be Ross Barton after a recent one-night stand complicated matters.

“It’s absolutely brilliant to play, knowing that Charity is in such a mess now. This has created a huge element of conflict for her. As an actor, you can’t hope for a better storyline,” Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, recently told us.

“I know the audience will just be like: ‘Oh my God, what will she do? Who can she tell?’ Because I think they all are going to immediately jump to the idea of: ‘Hang on then, it’s not Sarah and Jacob’s baby!’

“I think it is just a jaw dropping moment for those that have followed the storyline.”
