Which Yellowstone spinoff is happening next after 1923 Season 2?

It’s time to say goodbye to Spencer Dutton and his clan now that 1923 is over, but Yellowstone fans can rest easy, since there are plenty of new spinoffs currently on the way.

1923 covered the pre-Depression Era generation of Duttons, including Harrison Ford’s Jacob and Helen Mirren’s Cara. The series finale brought about plenty of heartache, but one thing was certain: the Duttons still have the ranch, and they will for many generations.

But what does this mean for the future of Yellowstone spinoffs? Will there be another prequel next, or are we returning to modern day Montana?

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Yellowstone shows, as well as which one is likely to be next.

Which Yellowstone spinoff is next?

Some Yellowstone spinoffs have been in development for years, but it looks as though the next one to be released will be The Madison, formerly titled Yellowstone 2024.

None of the upcoming spinoffs have confirmed release dates, but The Madison has received the most updates of the bunch. The series is set in the modern day, after the events of Yellowstone Season 5, and stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew Fox, and Patrick J. Adams.

The Madison will be a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana,” focussing on a new family as the move to the state after suffering a terrible loss.

The best news? The Madison has already finished principal photography. It was filmed in late 2024, so should be well into post production right now. If everything holds up, we may be getting a late 2025 premiere.

This makes it far more advanced than any other other spinoffs. Speaking of which…

What other Yellowstone spinoffs are in development?

There are four Yellowstone spinoffs in development right now: The Madison, 6666, 1944, and an untitled Beth and Rip spinoff.

We know all about The Madison. 6666, on the other hand, is less clear. The spinoff focusing on the famous real-life ranch in Texas has been in development for several years, but there’s been little-to-no updates about whether it’s still going ahead.

Things appeared to be all set up, with Jefferson White’s Jimmy moving out to the ranch in the later seasons of Yellowstone. Stay tuned for this one.

1944 was announced at the same time as The Madison (previously named Yellowstone 2024), and will be another prequel series in the same vein as 1883 and 1923.

While the plot remains under wraps, it’s expected to focus on the life of John Dutton II and his generation of ranch owners, and perhaps even feature an older Spencer Dutton.

Finally, there’s the Beth and Rip spinoff, which hasn’t actually been confirmed or announced by Paramount. However, it was leaked after the Yellowstone series finale, and is expected to follow Beth and Rip as they start their new life in Texas.
