1923 is officially ending, with Season 2 bringing an end to this era of Yellowstone, so make sure you keep on top of the release schedule.
Last time we saw the ’20s Duttons in Season 1, they were at a crossroads. The ranch’s taxes had been paid by Donald Whitfield, meaning they needed to buy him out in order to keep the land.
What’s more, Spencer and Alex had been separated by Spencer’s arrest, meaning they would have to travel across the world to meet each other in Montana again.

Is 1923 Season 2 over?
Yes, 1923 Season 2 (and the show itself) is now over, with the season finale, Episode 7: ‘A Dream and a Memory’, having premiered on Sunday, April 6.
While fans are still hoping for 1923 Season 3, the distinctive ending in Season 2 doesn’t leave much room open for more episodes in this Dutton era.
As we now know, Alex and Jack died, Liz left the ranch for good, and Spencer returned home with his new baby son to run the place.
Originally, it was believed there would be eight episodes of Season 2, so it was a surprise to see the show ending on Season 2 Episode 7. However, the finale was two hours long, which indicates there may have originally been an 8-episode plan after all.
How many episodes are there?
1923 Season 2 had seven episodes, one less than the first season.
Originally, there was only supposed to be one season. But when Taylor Sheridan discovered he needed more time to tell this part of the Dutton family’s story, Paramount allowed him to split the show into two.
“Well, it’s really the second half of the season. This one is different than 1883 where I had the whole thing blocked out in my head,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“This one, I had no idea what I was going to do. I just went on a journey myself and I’m the one that made the call to the network, which is probably the greatest call they ever got. ‘Hey, I need to make more episodes to finish this story. I need to do this in two blocks.’
“An eight episode block and a second eight episode block to wrap this up. I can’t wrap it up in two episodes and do the story justice. For them, it is great because they get more content. For me, I get more runway.”

What was Season 2 about?
Season 2 followed Jacob and Cara Dutton as they attempted to protect the ranch from the clutches of Donald Whitfield, as well as Spencer and Alexandra as they travelled separately to Montana.
The official synopsis is as follows: “With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.”
