This Is Us star Janet Montgomery has joined the cast of Yellowstone prequel 1923‘s second season.
The actor, who played Olivia Maine in the hit family drama, is set to cross paths with the Duttons as recurring character Hillary (via TVLine).
According to the character’s official breakdown, Hillary is described as “a thoughtful woman who does not want to see injustice go unpunished”.
Since appearing in This Is Us, Montgomery secured lead roles in medical drama New Amsterdam and thriller miniseries The Ex-Wife.

She has also appeared in episodes of Quantum Leap, Salem, Black Mirror, Downton Abbey, Made in Jersey and The Romanoffs.

News of Montgomery’s casting follows the announcement that Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter will also make an appearance in season two.
The actor will play Mamie Fossett, who is described as “a highly capable US Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time”.
The first season of 1923 debuted on Paramount+ back in 2022. It follows Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren’s characters Jacob and Cara Dutton as they deal with a series of pandemics, drought and the end of Prohibition in 1920s Montana.

The period drama’s impressive cast also includes Game of Thrones star Jermone Flynn as the Dutton’s arch-nemesis Banner Creighton and James Bond‘s Timothy Dalton as local tycoon Donald Whitfield.
It was recently reported that the show is in for some significant changes in its second season as it moves filming away from Butte, Montana, near where the show is set.
Instead, the team are heading to ATX Studios in Austin, Texas, where they’ll film eight new episodes.
Meanwhile, the second part of Yellowstone‘s fifth season is set to air on the streaming service this November, wrapping up the flagship series after six years.
